GreatAmerica Financial Services' Afternoon of Service

Is your group or company looking for a way to team build for a great cause? Let's look at GreatAmerica's example! GreatAmerica organized an afternoon to make food kits and tie blankets. The timing couldn't have been more perfect since we see a decline in donations in the spring and summer. Our shelves were empty of blankets and cupboards running low on snacks, and GreatAmerica filled them right back up!

Utilizing their break room, team members divided into groups to make tie blankets or assemble the kits. All the items were set out for people to arrive and be able to get right to work. In an hour and a half they assembled 600 food kits and made 80 tie blankets. WOW! We cannot thank them enough!

The counter space was filled with the food items for the bags. Teammates could grab a bag or two (or four if they were feeling ambitious) and walk down the line filling the bags with one of every item: protein/granola bar, beef jerky, trail mix, crackers, fruit snacks, chicken/tuna. Tie blankets were already set in their fabric pairs with scissors and rulers waiting at each table. Teammates could form groups of four to six and begin cutting and tying them. As they finished, there were more fabric pairs to replace theirs. The food kits went faster than the tie blankets, so the counter space was able to be used for extra blanket teams when they were done! Tie Blanket Instructions
