What Matters to You?

This summer our team at Willis Dady wanted to spend some time learning more about the people of our community. We asked the simple question, "What matters to you?" From it, we were able to see your perspective on homeless services in Cedar Rapids.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to respond to our emails or comment on our social media! We loved hearing your thoughts, learning about your stories, and gaining your perspectives. You noted some common themes from Willis Dady's direct "boots on the ground" service delivery model to the impactful utilization of donations. When asked to share one word that described Willis Dady, people described us as a life saver, providing hope, accepting, and committed.

People who responded were family or friends of people who had experienced homelessness, had lived experience themselves, were current Willis Dady volunteers or donors, or simply cared about homelessness in our community. Each person had a unique perspective to bring and contribute to the conversation.

At a recent staff meeting, our Community Engagement Manager compiled a list of responses to share. This was an encouragement that the hard work and determination that goes into delivering homeless services does not go unnoticed, and you told us that. The team left the meeting feeling seen because of you. While this wasn't the intention of the series, it was an wonderful byproduct. Again, thank you!
